My Life With IT

For the 1st time, I wasn’t even keen on going to the IT Show to check out the gadgets. I guess it isn’t as interested as Cebit that often showcases upcoming gadgets for the year. The usual limited space for walking and inconsiderate people attempting to chat up the babes including cashiers do turn me off.

While I won’t declare full avoidance of the IT Show in future, I’ll go if there is something that I want to buy. Not just to go there to browse and get stepped on my tall people who can’t see that there was already a jam in front.

At times like that, laptops and RAMs are good buys. They often sell the older versions of the laptops at cheaper rates.

February is a month for love. Valentine’s Day falls on 14th every year and contests usually revolve around love. However, Business Blogger has a contest for a $500 Grand Prize. Woot! Went to the Comex show. My expenditure list dwindled to one item and some free items from the purchase. I bought a spanking new Asus A8Js with CrystalShine LCD (whatever shine that is but it does look crystal-shine-like to me). The freebies? An Altec Lansing subwoofer speakers that is still unopened, TV/Radio tuner and a laptop bag.

The Comex Show is coming again. This time, I have a list yet again. Well, not a long list, besides, I’ve never bought anything much from such shows despite all the freebies.

With the Odex issue, I’m pretty sure subscribers may want to change their ISPs during the show. The issue is being discussed why PacNet did not have to release the names of the subscribers based on the IPs while Singnet and Starhub had to. With the high and mighty attitude by a certain Mr Stephen Sing and MIA Mr Peter Go, some dirt was dug up from their Games Mart Pte Ltd.

My list of stuff to buy or consider.

• A mouse (as long as there is a scroller)
• A laptop (upgrade from my current beloved lappy)
• A PSP Slim (nah, not really)
• A DS Lite (perhaps)
• Change my ISP (I still have a year to go)

Where should I place my money on?

I managed to get invited to Joost and got a download. It runs slow on my laptop because it barely met the requirements. I so need a new and upgraded laptop. Anyone want to donate to my funds?

Every year, the PC Show would be on for 4 days. I try to go if I remember but with its success, the crowd has been getting horribly big. There is no oxygen to breathe even when I stepped into the entrance. I don’t get any chance to even touch that laptop I have been coverting.

This year, the pull of the show is not as strong as when I first heard of it. The first time I went, it was crowded. Weekends tend to attract more crowds. As the years go by, the crowd grew and the air stunk of bodies.

This year, the show is in a smaller venue. However, as the first day was a public holiday, the crowd was huge, sardine-liked and asthmatic feeling. These were the impressions by those who have gone the the 1st day. I suspect the baby strollers are used purposely to get through the crowd. Shrewd.

Oh, beware of pickpokets. Someone lost his camera. I wonder if I should buy Lenovo 3000 V100 (Consumer version) or Thinkpad X60. For compatibilities’ sake:

Advice, anyone?

Online games seem to bring out the worst in us. We scream and slam everything in our path that look like obstacles when they have nothing to do with the loading time or the lag. I found this video about a German kid screaming, laughing maniacally and slamming everything in his hands. Scary personality that brought out his worst.
