No Picky Domains For Me
Written by WishBoNe on March 19, 2008 – 11:19 amI thought I would try my hand in suggesting domain names. I have suggested more than 10 names with 4 being disliked in various offers. One of it even claimed “I’m open to just about any name.” The irony is that all of my suggestions were in the dislike folder.
Not quite sure if I should even continue using Picky Domains. Perhaps, I should stop using since the names are disliked. It isn’t easy to even have a short domain name because most of them are parked and to purchase them is out of the question as the domain parker won’t consider any amount less than what they want to sell.
I joined hoping to earn 50% if my suggestions are selected. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the luck.

Well you are not alone in not being picked - in fact a large Google search and I cannot come up with one person who has been paid by Picky Domains.
My experience there is that I have since found that 2 of the names I suggested have been registered as domains - have I been paid for them? NO - Picky domains say that the client was refunded - who can say - all I know is that my suggestions were stolen by someone and registered - thats called theft where I come from.
Not worth the hours of suggestions that Ive put in - to all you wannabe domain namers………………..save your time and dont bother to join.

@Chris
I’ve stopped contributing since the clients are ‘picky’. Thanks, at least I know I’m not the only one.

I have just entered 3 domains that are available and they have come up as taken at picky domains. They are conning people by getting them to suggest good domain names and then buying them themselves.
Avoid like the plague

I joined pickydomains a few days ago and have submitted several suggestions.
I have had one suggestion picked already, and I was paid immediately. It seems pretty legit to me. Let me say this again so Google can properly index this(maybe)for the people who are searching for comments like this: I have been paid by pickydomains.com.
I have been wondering, however, what would prevent a site-owner from simply saying that they don’t like the suggestions, getting their money refunded, and then using them anyway. This situation also seems to exist at a similar crowd-sourcing website : http://namethis.com …
I’m sure it happens, but I’m not too worried. If I thought I had a good domain idea that was REALLY valuable, I would simply register and develop it myself.
I plan to continue submitting, because I think it’s fun, but I am rather skeptical that my activity at this site will allow me to quit my day job anytime soon. Anyone who thinks that they are going to get rich this way should re-evaluate their business model.
In response to Anna’s comment … There are 2 instances that they flag as “already taken”. One error flag come up if the name is already registered, a slightly different message is displayed if the name has already been submitted by another member. This seems to be done instantly and automatically by the algorithm and isn’t a covert domain idea stealing operation.

I looked up some of the lines from ZArk’s comment and found the same wording on different sites (in comment section). They all use the line that he joined a few days ago. This line is used even when the comment was made some time ago.
