1st Impression: Record TV

Written by WishBoNe on December 25, 2007 – 7:27 pm

Record TVRecord TV is a new site introduced to me just recently. I decided to try it out and attempted my recording for Shrek The Halls shown on Channel 5. I can watch it within 15 days. It’s only available to Singapore users. However, you can’t watch the show you have recorded if you are accessing the site from overseas as it restricts the site to streaming only to Singapore.

Having recorded the show, I have proceeded to load it. Unfortunately, despite my latest version of Windows Media Player, I have been facing the black screen embedded for more than an hour. Pressing the Play button numerous times have done nothing to load the movie. How disappointing. Using IE7 does nothing to help. So, what gives?

Another issue is that there is no way to contact the webmaster. The only channels that are recordable are Channel 5, Channel 8 and Channel News Asia. Not that bad since it seems to be a new way of watching the TV shows you may miss. The commercials are recorded too from what I read in the FAQ.

The user interface is not complicated but I do dislike the fact that I can’t edit my profile after I’ve logged in. Perhaps it’s just for me to login to record the shows? I’m not sure if this is a good way to catch up with TV programmes that you may miss being aired, but I sure hope the recorded shows are playable instead of facing a black screen and wondering why it still won’t load despite having the latest technology.
