Sex Offenders Given Limited Web Access
Written by WishBoNe on December 28, 2007 – 3:38 pmSex offenders in Florida and Nevada will be having limited web access.
Convicted sex offenders who used the Internet to help them commit their crimes will be banned from using the Internet under a measure signed into law Thursday.
The bill applies to people who, for example, lured a potential victim through e-mail or other electronic messages. It also affects paroled sex offenders under lifetime supervision, but exempts computer work done as part of a job or search for employment.
Looks like periodic checks will be in place for them too. The Internet is both a bane and a boon. Either you get thrills from eating someone you contacted with online or you get a thrill watching all R-rated photographs or videos or video-chats.

pfingo Vouchers for Sale
Written by WishBoNe on December 26, 2007 – 11:20 am
I have SGD60 worth of pfingo vouchers for sale. They can be used to offset your subscription or purchase credits. The vouchers will expire in March 2008, best before 18 March 2008.
I’m selling for SGD40. I’m selling them away as I found that I wasn’t using the service much. List of vouchers will be emailed to the sincere taker when payment is made. Fake emails in the comments will not be taken into consideration. Bidders are welcome too.
Payment via Paypal or bank transfer only.
Contact me for those are keen.
Comments will be closed for this post once this sale is closed successfully.
Note: Vouchers are not those that you will normally see in Sizzler’s or Roma’s. So, any meet-ups at a physical place are absolutely unnecessary. The vouchers are in electronic formats and have been compiled into a text file.

1st Impression: Record TV
Written by WishBoNe on December 25, 2007 – 7:27 pm
Record TV is a new site introduced to me just recently. I decided to try it out and attempted my recording for Shrek The Halls shown on Channel 5. I can watch it within 15 days. It’s only available to Singapore users. However, you can’t watch the show you have recorded if you are accessing the site from overseas as it restricts the site to streaming only to Singapore.
Having recorded the show, I have proceeded to load it. Unfortunately, despite my latest version of Windows Media Player, I have been facing the black screen embedded for more than an hour. Pressing the Play button numerous times have done nothing to load the movie. How disappointing. Using IE7 does nothing to help. So, what gives?
Another issue is that there is no way to contact the webmaster. The only channels that are recordable are Channel 5, Channel 8 and Channel News Asia. Not that bad since it seems to be a new way of watching the TV shows you may miss. The commercials are recorded too from what I read in the FAQ.
The user interface is not complicated but I do dislike the fact that I can’t edit my profile after I’ve logged in. Perhaps it’s just for me to login to record the shows? I’m not sure if this is a good way to catch up with TV programmes that you may miss being aired, but I sure hope the recorded shows are playable instead of facing a black screen and wondering why it still won’t load despite having the latest technology.

Photo Blanket
Written by WishBoNe on December 24, 2007 – 7:46 pmWith technology getting more advanced this days, you get to print your photos on any items; mugs, beddings, tables, walls, and even blankets. That’s right, you can print your photos on blankets. I would like that very much. I’ve seen photos on keychains, mugs and walls, yet to see one on blankets.
[via Vision Bedding]
Here, you get your very own Photo Blanket from Vision Bedding. With 3 sizes available: 30″x40″, 50″x60″ and 60″x72″ in addition to 13 fleece colors for the bottom layer. You get to choose from many collage and layout Designs too. Just pick your preferred size and colour, upload your image and you are ready to go.
By using the latest production technology, the photo or digital image is professionally dyed into the fabric, just like the clothes you wear daily. This process won’t fade or alter the fabric’s texture either. How cool is that? This personalised service allows you to cover the entire top of the blanket too.
Washing is easy, just use your regular washing machine in the gentle cycle using cold water. Dry using low heat in the dryer and that’s it. I’m going to get my own photo blanket, that way, no one will mistake my blanket from the other, again.

Will You Pay Tax for Your Blog(s)
Written by WishBoNe on December 22, 2007 – 8:32 pmWith everyone blogging and writing online this days, the law is catching up on those of us who are earning big bucks online. Here, we are asked if we are willing to pay for Internet tax. So, by earning money, I am supposed to be taxed up, down, left, right on any amount I’m earning online and offline? Oh my. The online world is so lucrative these days that we are supposed to report all our income and being taxed just because we are earning some pitiful amount of money, right?
Let’s see why we are choosing some people to be in the high places:
We live in an environment where we’re overtaxed and under-rewarded. With grand promises of better education, more paved roads and public works, lawmakers do whatever they can to take our tax money. And unfortunately, we sometimes fall for it.
Oh yea, we do fall for the promises like lift upgrades and more wheelchair friendly pavements too. I’m not earning much online, it’s for hosting and domain fees. I don’t even rely on the Internet to promote my services either. No one is hiring me for freelance work too. So, I don’t wished to be taxed just because I’m trying to earn that pitiful amount for my hosting and domain fees.
I doubt this way of earning is even considered as Corporate Tax as defined in the scope. Does this even count as freelance from home? It doesn’t even have anything related to the 4-line statement. How do I project the profit and loss for blogging? I do this for fun.

50 Things I Learnt This Year
Written by WishBoNe on December 21, 2007 – 5:50 pmEvery year I learn something. Like I don’t learn everyday. As the year is coming to an end, I will now list down the things I’ve learnt this year that I didn’t last year.
- Using lists in posts do make reading online better. See the group writing project I did?
- I do lose focus of the blog when I get carried away by other distractions.
- By losing focus of this blog, I have lost visitors and my daily visitors dwindled down to 0 for 3 weeks.
- Page Rank for this new site took more than 3 months to be up due to unknown forces.
- You can get demotion in Page Rank for some unknown issues.
- Using bold in lists do help a lot too.
- Using Ajax rocks especially in comments.
- However, not when Akismet thinks you are spam in the comments. You get page error.
- Bad Behavior will help to reduce the spam comments.
- However, not when it thinks you are not the owner when the old version seems not compatible with WP 2.3.1.
- I didn’t know that I would be so obsessed with the plugins.
- I have way too many plugins that I’m using.
- I have enjoyed Group Writing Projects so much.
- I’ve invested too much of my time being too specialised in my area of job scope.
- I can request for a change for my job scope and try my hand at something I have always wanted to do.
- Adsense doesn’t work too well here.
- Sponsored posts pay out faster for my case.
- I’m using way too little keywords here.
- I am giving up on trying to get organic traffic here.
- MyBlogLog community does have other sites that may capture my interest.
- BlogCatalog can be another source of new blogs for me to read.
- I have to clean up my Google Reader sometimes.
- I hate the new Blogspot comment area.
- I can just check a wifi detecting watch for wifi.
- So can a T-shirt too.
- I’m stuck here trying to think of 21 other things I have learnt this year.
- After getting my own domain, I have to worry about backups, hackers, upgrades, updates and many other things.
- English sounding domain names are way easier to remember.
- I don’t do very well at designing WP themes.
- I join a lot of contests.
- So much that this blog is no longer about what the original focus was for.
- A short break without posting obsessively everyday does help to make the focus better.
- I don’t use future post dates much.
- Mobile version for this site is cool.
- Youtube is the God of videos.
- Maybe not.
- There are bloggers who are scammers.
- There are plugins that don’t work very well for me.
- Not all Wordpress themes are clean.
- Earning in the virtual world can be fun too.
- There are delays in payouts.
- It’s tough trying to think of 50 things when I’m having a blocked nose.
- I’m amazed that I’ve reached nearly 50.
- I could have made this list when I’m feeling better.
- Social network sites are totally sucking up my time.
- They can also be abused.
- I suck at counting manually with a medication infested blood. See point 26.
- I finally joined Facebook.
- Only to play Scrabulous that none of my friends are too enthusiastic about.
- I have way too many accounts for emails, sites that I no longer frequent and social networking sites.
There. I’ve done it. How about you?
