Crackdown on Anime Downloads

Written by WishBoNe on June 1, 2007 – 9:59 am

It looks like Asia is the largest downloader for anime. These are free, so why would anyone want to buy the DVDs? Odex has decided to team up officially when the rumours have been going on for some time on the grapevine that they are going to catch the downloaders.

First, I must declare that I have never heard of Opex. Never. I don’t even know what it does except the name makes me think of watches. The article was printed today that they will be starting the crackdown on anime downloaders such as BitTorrent, what else since it’s the most popular and fastest downloader of all times. I think other ways of downloading will be targetted as well.

Apparently, their PR is lousy. No replies to an email that was stating everything clearly. Anime DVD is cheap to them. Well, for one DVD, yes. But for a series, it is not. One Piece has many DVDs because the series is long. Bleach too. So, how many can we afford?
