Wordpress Host Search Begins
Written by WishBoNe on May 18, 2007 – 11:28 pmI’ll like to move to a host. I’ll like to control what sort of WP theme that I like. I’ve seen so many at Wordpress theme and would love to use them. I was looking at the recommended hosts by Wordpress. HostGator is one of them. Sounds like a horror story to me. A search for I hate HostGator turns up with 4 links. So, I guess it’s not that horrible. As for I love HostGator, it seemed positive feedback is more than negative ones.
BlueHost was my next option until I read another horror story, with hidden fees. So, I decided to investigate further. A search for I hate BlueHost resulted in 7 results by Google. So, how about I love BlueHost? There were more results. Ok, so it ain’t that bad.
Just doing the search count is not enough. I would have to read reviews and recommendations. Let’s check out recommendations. FortyPlusTwo gave quite a good write-up on finding web hosts. I shall have to look at registering my domain elsewhere instead of with the host which I intend to use.
I have been considering SiteGround because it’s in a familiar currency and I can calculate the expenses without spending much trouble on converting the rates. MediaTemple is also recommended by someone in a forum. The problem is that these hosts are in other countries and I’m not sure if it would be easy to contact them via Skype, email or MSN because if I encounter any problem, I like to save on my IDD calls. It’s just not economic if I have to call them to solve any problem.
A search for local web host turned up with Clever. Interesting domain host name here. The size allocated seems enough although more expensive than Vodien. However, you pay for what you get.
Spry sounds like it’s reliable. Just look at the name! It’s spry, meaning that it’s healthy and hale! I do wonder if I should choose a web host that has been online since 1997. Advice, anyone?

i had personally say bluehost is basically more reliable compared to other shared hosting services especially for sites with heavy load…
i have had issues with their support but that seems to be an isolated incident. i have friends who have been very happy with them…
http://www.tigertech.net/ is another very heavily recommended host. used by some very popular blogging services. check that out too.

When choosing a webhost i allways used review sites untill i realized that 90% of them were making $ off affiliate programs and such or worse were actually owned by a webhost.
So thats why i stated my own review site.. Its really fun and also i have learned alot.
You would be suprised how many hosts are willing to give you a test account when u tell them that your writing a review on them.
you can even get test accounts from those who never give them out.
Out of all the hosts that i reviewd i would say that siteground.com is one of the best followed by Ya-Host.com
HostGator.com was actually the worst.. had alot of problems with them. Poor support MySql problems and such .. Fine for the average user however if you run a high traffic forum or similar you will run into alot of probs

@Richard
That should help me in reviewing which one is suitable for me.
Thanks for your insight, I didn’t realise that I could get a test account
