Online Invitations
Written by WishBoNe on December 30, 2006 – 11:36 pmI have tried using Evite in the past. I think it is easier than sending emails to everyone and getting a thread of returned emails and after 4 such reply to all emails, everyone’s lost on the venue, time and who’s going list. There is another such site by Grouptivity. Maybe I can try using it and see how the response is for my next attempt at organising an event.

Spam Comments
Written by WishBoNe on December 30, 2006 – 8:23 amNow, there’s nothing remotely related to advice on how to attract women here. I found this on my spam comment.
Sorry, I can’t help you with women and neither can I help you with weight loss. Excercise and good diet habits should be enforced.
It’s interesting how it evolved from email spambots to blog spambots. I really wonder how these people actually can write the codes to be able to spam blogs and build spamblogs. It gives Blogger and AOL bad names. The links display a page with lots of truly gibberish. I hope there wasn’t any downloads in the background. Darn! Shouldn’t have clicked them! ![]()

Jabra BT135 Headset Undiscoverable
Written by WishBoNe on December 30, 2006 – 8:14 amI’ve a new bluetooth headset, Jabra BT135. It’s a belated Christmas gift. I had tested the demo set but not the actual. After charging it, it can’t be discovered. I don’t know why ![]()
Has anyone encountered with such a case? I thought it was my Dopod 838Pro bluetooth problem. However, it isn’t. I tried using my laptop to verify and the headset can’t be discovered. I don’t know why.
Does that mean I’ve to go back to the shop for an exchange? Gosh. I hate it when such things happen. I’m so eager to use it and it’s a let down when the headset doesn’t work. ![]()
Update: Managed to get it to work, there was the tricky way of putting it to discoverable mode.

Microsoft and AMD Giving Free Laptops
Written by WishBoNe on December 29, 2006 – 7:47 am
Oh boy, I’m very jealous indeed. Laughing Squid had a free Ferrari laptop by Acer. It had Windows Vista Ultimate installed in it. I wonder how Microsoft decides who to give the free laptops to. I need one too. The PC has crashed and I’m just too tired to troubleshoot it.
I’m a blogger too, athough I haven’t been blogging much about Microsoft. Maybe the negative remarks doesn’t entitle me to the free stuff. However, a reward with any laptop or PC even if it’s just a review version, I don’t mind. At all. Please?
A list of those who have been given the free laptops is here. Aye, this post ain’t sponsored either. Maybe I should sign up with some sites on being paid per post. I wonder if I would get blogger’s block if there is a random topic thrown at me. ![]()
Just imagine how the lack of Internet has caused such a delay in knowing such news! However, such things usually have controversies. Brian Solis has summarised the points, yes, I agree with inciting bloggers to be jealous and alienated part.
The most discussed issue was the disclosure. The laptops were to be reviewed, post the reviews or not, give away or return the Microsoft and keep it. Hmm. I am so jealous.

How Deep Again?
Written by WishBoNe on December 28, 2006 – 8:29 pmIt’s another day of no access to international sites. I read the news. It stated it would take 3 weeks to repair the cables. It’s no wonder because my colleague told me that the news had a video of divers in the sea going down to repair the damages. Now, how deep are the cables laid undersea again?
Thank god that I have Internet access at home. It is torture trying to figure how to solve something from the depth of my brains when I have to references to look up to, from the Internet.

How May I Help You?
Written by WishBoNe on December 27, 2006 – 8:22 pmI lost a post here for the 1st time. It was due to the ISP that was experiencing heavy traffic to international sites, WP is one of them.
I had a link too! A very interesting link too! Now I lost my thoughts on what I had said on that lost post! GAH!
My attempt at finding the lost post:
I started assembling computers in my 1st year of work as I was doing IT support. The job title doesn’t sound anything like IT. There were a few managers who love free advice on how to solve their computer problems (those that were in their homes). There was this particular manager who loved to cut short my appetite for lunch. He would see us having our lunches and sit with us talking about other topics (sometimes he went straight to the point) and asked for our help.
The 1st time, it was ok. However, he took every opportunity to ask questions and in the process, spoilt our appetites. It was unfortunate that we were unable to look for other places to have our lunches. However, he was a lot better than our new manager. This new manager had requested an IT guy who was outsourced to the company to go to his house and troubleshoot his computer!
There was no pay as you would to the IT engineer on hourly basis of that sort. No drinks were offered either. He would enlist this engineer for his friends too. How convenient.
I had a user who called me on how to change the setting of the screen size. “Right click on your desktop.”
“How to right click?”
“On the mouse.”
“Ok, I’ve done it, what’s next?”
“Click on properties.”
“I don’t see any.”
“Did you right click on your desktop?”
“I did.”
“What’s on your monitor now?”
“My Word document.”
After a few minutes, I realised that desktop means the desk she’s sitting at, not the computer screen desktop. I stabbed the caller mentally.

It’s no wonder this letter was written to describe the frustrations.

Curses, this post is totally different from my original! I found out that Taiwan had an earthquake and the ISP was using the communications lines via Taiwan. Due to the quake, the lines were cut and I can’t access any International sites whole day. I couldn’t even do any research.
Moral of the story, have a 2nd line to use in case of any disasters.

XBox 360 Purchase Hesitation
Written by WishBoNe on December 26, 2006 – 7:53 pmI had been thinking if I should get buy an XBox 360. With all the hype about it being better than XBox, I was wondering if it was worth it. It seems that the blue screen of death likes to plague Microsoft. For XBox, it’s called Ring of Light (RoL).
Apparently, that should convince anyone to purchase extended warranty. You never know when you might need it for something that costs you a bomb.
I think I can still wait since my XBox is under utilised now. With everyone of us out of the home 7 days a week, it’s a real pity.

Blogging Effects
Written by WishBoNe on December 26, 2006 – 11:25 amI blog and read blogs mostly. I didn’t know that a male who blogs may be turning himself more female. Blogging is addictive, you post lots of random videos that capture your attention. You post a lot of links to other blogs or news. You post scanned images. You post photos of your beloved pets, bikes, cars, food and anything else you can think of.
I think we may rant more online than communicating verbally. Scary, isn’t it? I wonder what being online means.
